FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Are TeleHealth appointments for New and Existing Patients?
Both New and Existing Patients can book a Telehealth appointment.
What kinds of appointments can be conducted through video?
Video physical therapy sessions can be used to conduct initial evaluation as well as follow up appointments. During a video evaluation, your PT will take a detailed history of your condition and lead you through certain movements or special tests to obtain or confirm a diagnosis. Video sessions allow the PT to assess many factors contributing to a patient’s condition, including range of motion, quality of motion, posture and alignment. They are also able to identify unwanted movement patterns and compensatory techniques. The PT then evaluates the patient’s condition and provides patients with an individualized exercise program, specific to their needs and goals.
During video follow up sessions, patients are prescribed and guided through therapeutic exercises and the physical therapist can see them perform the activities in real time. Patients are able to receive immediate feedback on their performance of the exercises, including information on their alignment and form. The PT is also able to assist and correct any compensatory, unwanted movements, taking place and modify exercises to make sure they are pain free. PTs will also progress or regress exercises according to patient performance, and they can also see when a patient is ready for more challenging exercises!
What do I need to conduct a telemedicine appointment?
All you need is a smartphone, tablet, or computer with audio/video capability and either cellular connection or internet access. Prior to your appointment your PT will email you a link to the video session through our HIPAA compliant telehealth platform. Once you receive the email, all you have to do is click the link to get connected to your PT!
How does it work?
A telehealth session is a live, face to face conversation between you and your Physical Therapist and essentially functions just like a regular visit to our office. After you call our office to book an appointment or submit an appointment request online, we will send you a confirmation email with the date and time of your appointment. You will also be getting set-up instructions for your virtual appointment.
